Determination of arsenic, selenium and mercury in water by hydride generation-cold vapor atomic absorption spectrometry

This article outlines the procedures for the accurate and reliable pretreatment and analysis of arsenic, selenium and mercury in water using FIAS-AAS. Before the atomization of the hydride, a concentration step is performed, which makes its analysis more efficient than the solution atomization system. The use of a heated quartz atomizer enhances the sample transfer efficiency, thereby increasing the sensitivity so that very low content determinations can be made.
