Direct imaging printing

The development of DI printing technology has been more than ten years old. The earliest DI printing machine was the Quickmaster46-4DI printing press introduced by Heidelberg at the Drupa 95 exhibition. It was a great cause for the Drupa exhibition of the year. The sensation caused a great impact on the sales volume of Indigo and Xeikon's digital color printers. In the following years, several companies have successively joined the DI press market, including Adast's B2 format DI printer. Both the Quickmaster and Adast printers use the imaging technology and plates from Presstek. Later, Heidelberg added Creo's imaging head to their Speedmaster 74 press to develop the Speedmaster 74B2 format DI printer. At the beginning, this press could only be imaged on a Presstek plate. Agfa later designed a Thermoplate for it. The Karat printing company was also a joint venture between KBA and Scitex, which introduced the 74 Karat device using the Scitex imaging head, just like their Lotem platesetter, but ultimately imaged on a Presstek plate. Until now, there are still manufacturers of DI equipment entering the market. Most of them use the technology of Presstek. The company worth mentioning is Ryobi. Their product is 3404DI. This equipment can be used in many ways and Quickmaster46-4DI in Heidelberg. Comparable, but also has some outstanding features. In addition, there are Xerox DocuColor233DI sold in North America and KBA 46 Karat sold worldwide. Some other DI presses using Presstek technology have the Sakurai Oliver 474 EPIIDI press, with a B2 format. The largest format DI press to date is the S40D DI printer from Komori, with a B1 format, using Creo's Square Spot imaging technology and plates from Agfa. The role of MAN Roland in the DI printing market is also very significant. Their DICOweb is completely different from the previous web offset printing technology. Instead of printing plates, it is directly imaged on a multi-imageable cylinder.
At this IPEX exhibition, Creo also demonstrated in advance a technology they are developing that is imaging directly on the roller. The coating layer used for imaging is sprayed on the roller in advance. So far, only one printing press manufacturer has formally signed an agreement to develop a press that uses this technology. That is Komori. According to Creo's CTO Dan Gelbart, the main problem in applying this technology is the need to redesign a completely different press, rather than adding certain components to the existing press model. It takes time and effort to develop such products, so it will take some time to see the latest technology machines developed with Creo.
Although the promotion of DI printing presses is very strong at present, manufacturers still face great sales pressure. The market performance of DI printers is still not successful. Heidelberg's Quickmaster46-4DI has bought about 1,700 units in the past seven years (from the start of listing), which is really nothing for Heidelberg and compares with their non-DI Quickmaster devices. The gap between them was too great. In the same period of time, non-DI Quickmaster printers bought a total of 10,000 units. Last year's sales of DI printers were very poor. According to the forecast of the American NPES Association, by the end of this year, it will reach the goal of selling 2,700 DI printers, but now it seems very difficult.
There is no new performance in the field of DI printers on IPEX. MAN Roland exhibited 16 pages of DICOweb and signed an order. Why is the development of the DI printing market sluggish, and is it still possible for recovery? This is really difficult to answer, but many professionals have a negative attitude toward DI printing and believe that its development prospects are not bright. Let us analyze it. First of all, we have to think about where is the market for DI printing? Some people may want to say that in the 400 short print color printing market printed in 20,000 India. But did not think that with the continuous emergence of digital printing technology with offset quality and lower cost per printing, the low-end DI market has been seriously challenged. At the same time, the degree of automation of offset printing equipment has been continuously mentioned, and the cost-effective CTP solution has significantly reduced the cost of traditional offset printing, which has reduced the scope of application in the DI printing market to below 1,000 sheets. The entire printing market is eaten up by the lower-end equipment and eaten in the higher-end sector. How many are left for DI?
In addition, there are also problems with printing plates. Most DI presses use the imaging head technology and plate technology from Presstek. KBA 74 Karat also uses Presstek's plates. For these printers, they are all waterless printers, so the choice of plate suppliers is very limited. For those DI printers that are not based on Presstek's technology, there is room for selecting printing plates, such as Presstek or Agfa, but the number of such printers is limited. The question is how many companies are willing to invest heavily in equipment whose core elements can only be provided by one supplier? Since Presstek applied for a patent for his plate technology, and was exclusively produced by himself, there were fewer opportunities for companies that wanted to compete with Presstek. Therefore, when a printing company considers investing in DI printers, the first thing they think of is the development prospects of the DI printing market, and the next thing to consider is the choice of printing plates.

sun shade net

Sun shade netting can offer protection from direct sunlight offerng various shading percentages and high UV stablilzation.

This helps to create a more productive greenhouse environment by providing uniform shading, regulating temperature, and allowing plants to retain more moistue.

The material is 100% virgin material + UV or recycled material
