U.S. invented using chicken feathers to make plastic products

A new patent developed by the U.S. Department of Agriculture’s Agricultural Research Service Laboratories was recently disclosed. With this patented technology, clean chicken feather powder can be processed into textile fabrics, containers, plastic films, plastic bags and other special products made of plastic.

At present, the United States has annual chicken feather output of 2.5 billion pounds, and is still increasing year by year. Some chicken feathers have been used for feed, but more are treated as garbage. With the emergence of bird flu, chicken feather feed development is under threat and scientists are trying to use chicken feathers. The new technology can produce fiber fabrics of arbitrary lengths and widths and plastic films of any shape by rearranging the molecular structure of keratin, the main component of chicken feathers.
