One side of the shampoo bottle adds to the curve: it is both strong and economical

Global packaging company Sonoco has launched its proprietary sustainable packaging design software to help customers reduce the environmental impact of their packaging. South Carolina’s subsidiary claims that they are simplifying packaging to improve its recycling by replacing or removing packaging materials. Unilever America has partnered with Sonoco Global Plastic Packaging to reduce its cost and environmental impact by redesigning its Suave brand shampoo bottles.

By adding a curve to the side of the shampoo bottle, not only does it increase the overall firmness, but it also reduces the amount of resin needed to produce a shampoo bottle of 16%, Sonoco explained.

Sonoco's new sustainable solution is called True Blue. In order to meet the needs of the brand, shampoo bottles must have a leading edge in environmental protection and be achieved through the use of environmentally friendly materials or reduced resource use.

“Our True Blue brand provides customers with a one-stop sustainable packaging solution,” Schuetz said. "With our overall shampoo bottle solution, we create sustainable value for our customers."
