The drying of tinplate printing ink mainly has two methods: oxidative conjunctiva drying and volatile drying. It can be seen that tinplate requires special inks with special properties in the printing process. Compared with ordinary offset printing inks, there are special requirements in terms of composition and properties.

1 The basic composition of iron printing ink is the abbreviation of metal offset printing ink. It is a variety of three-piece cans, two-piece cans, food cans, miscellaneous cans, spray cans, which are made of tinplate and other metal sheets. , Toys, hoses, metal bottle caps, metal signs and other decorative printing baking curing ink.

Iron printing ink is a milky plastid with dry oil or resin as the base and special pigment as the main body. No matter what color printing iron ink, its basic composition is roughly composed of pigments, binders, fillers and auxiliary agents.

1) Pigments. The pigment used in iron printing ink is a colored particle that is neither soluble in water nor its solvent, and is the main part of the iron printing ink, which plays a role in color rendering. Pigments for printing iron require strong coloring power, bright colors, fine particles, small density, large oil absorption, and also have special requirements in light resistance, heat resistance, steam resistance, acid resistance, alkali resistance, etc.

2) Connection material. The connecting material should have proper rheology, so that the pigment can be stably dispersed in the connecting material. The quality of the connecting material directly affects the performance of the ink. The connecting material of iron printing ink is generally of oxidized conjunctive type, because the metal surface is not absorbent. In addition to adapting to the printability of lithographic printing, the connecting material of the color printing ink should also have the properties of heat resistance, flexibility and impact resistance; white ink and white paint also require lighter colors. In addition, the connection material must not contain solvents such as mineral oil, so as not to affect the hardness of the coating film.

4) Wetting agent. Except for special needs, generally not used.

5) Gum oil. Adding to the ink can improve the gloss of the iron printing ink, and make the dots clear, fast, and can improve the printing performance of the ink.

6) Desiccant. When added to the ink, it can promote the oxidative film formation of the dry resin, which can act as a catalyst in chemistry, and promote the oxidative polymerization of the ink.

2 The main reason is that tinplate is a non-absorbent material, and dots are prone to falsification during printing, especially dots in highlight areas are easy to lose. In addition, the workshop temperature is high and the change is large, which often causes the emulsification of the ink and the thickening of the dots.

2) Adhesion (requirement of connecting material). The tinplate surface is a non-absorbent surface. If the choice of the connecting material is improper or the adhesion of the metal surface is not considered adequately, the ink adhesion will not meet the requirements of tinplate surface printing.

3) Adaptability to wetting fluid (water resistance). Printing iron inks are required to have strong water resistance, and this factor should also be considered in the selection of pigments and binders.

5) Light resistance. After printing and processing tinplate into packaging containers, tinplate is generally used for the packaging of products with a long shelf life, which is subject to long-term exposure to natural light and lighting, so it is required to have good light resistance. Ink with good light resistance, the printed products are gorgeous in color, full and strong graphic dots, full of three-dimensional sense, and can be stored for a long time; ink with poor light resistance, the color of printed products is easy to lighten and darken.

6) Solvent resistance and wet press wet coating. Generally, tinplate ink should be coated with strong solvent-based varnish immediately after printing, that is, wet-press wet-coating, so the ink needs to have good solvent resistance.

7) Processing resistance. After the tinplate printing is completed, it needs to undergo various molding processes to make the required products. Therefore, the ink film is required to have excellent mechanical properties.

9) Corrosion resistance. Substances with strong acidity or alkalinity in the packaging container are prone to corrode the inner surface of the tinplate, so the ink is required to have corrosion resistance.
