Norsk Titanium is invested in commercial RPD 3D printing process

Recently, Norsk Titanium, a Norwegian 3D printing company, announced that it has received investment from Triangle Holdings Holdings LP, a North Carolina aerospace investment company owned by the Fortress Investment Group LLC subsidiary. Currently, details of the investment terms have not been disclosed.

Just a few months ago, NorskTitanium announced plans to produce the first FAA-approved 3D printed titanium structural component for aircraft manufacturer Boeing through its patent for rapid plasma deposition (RPD) process. According to the company, its innovative manufacturing process transforms titanium into complex parts at lower cost and faster speeds.

With the investment of TriangleHoldings, NorskTitanium will be able to accelerate the commercialization of its aerospace sector and its rapid plasma deposition process. According to reports, TriangleHoldings has invested more than $1.2 billion in aircraft and aerospace since its inception in 2011. The investment in NorskTitanium is its latest move.

Jeremy Barnes, a partner at TriangleHoldings, said: "According to the 'Strategic Cooperation Memorandum', our investment in NorskTitanium reflects our strategy of investing in the transformation of the aerospace industry. We look forward to working with NorskTitanium to increase its RPD technology."

NorskTitanium President and CEO WarrenM.BoleyJr. added the following statement: "Our focus is on integrating advanced technology with intelligent production and industrial Internet, which will bring us unique platform technology. The fourth industrial revolution is made by the company. And personally designed to show great vision and bold execution, I am very proud to work with this ambitious partner."

It is reported that the International Paris Air Show will be held in LeBourget from June 19th to 25th, when visitors will have the opportunity to see NorskTitanium's 3D printed titanium parts for the Boeing Dreamliner aircraft. These components will be on display at the company's booth, as well as a full-scale model of the MERKEIV rapid plasma deposition equipment for its parts.

John Andersen Jr., Chairman of NorskTitanium, said: “The ability of TriangleHoldings and its affiliates is extraordinary, and the ambition of this strategic investment will give NorskTitanium customers unprecedented access to applications.”

In 2016, NorskTitanium announced that it has received more than $125 million in investment to build a fast plasma deposition 3D printing facility in Plattsburgh, New York. At the time, the company said its equipment is expected to be operational by the end of 2017 and is expected to create more than 500 jobs.
