Application and drying mechanism of soybean oil ink (I)

Petroleum-based inks contain a large amount of toxic components such as VOCs, which seriously pollute the air. Soybean oil inks do not pollute the air, reducing dependence on increasingly scarce petroleum resources and are biodegradable ink products that ensure the health of operators and consumers.

Soybean oil ink environmental protection

In 1979, the United States developed oil from soy oil instead of the oil needed to make ink. Nowadays, the United States has strongly advocated soybean oil inks. Soybean News ink production has exceeded the corresponding petroleum products. The printing industry also believes that its performance advantages have exceeded the performance advantages of petroleum-based inks. In China, due to resources and costs, soybean oil ink products and production technology are from foreign or joint ventures.

Vegetable oil-based offset printing inks are mainly used for publishing and commercial printing. With its successful application in the printing industry and the improvement of relevant laws and regulations, it will greatly stimulate the printing industry's demand for such inks, including sheet-fed offset printing inks and heat. Solid offset inks, commercial form printing inks, and flexographic printing inks. And the application of different vegetable oils in printing inks will further promote the development of green inks.

1. Soybean oil offset printing ink is the real meaning of environmentally friendly ink

Soybean oil belongs to edible oil, which can be completely integrated into the natural environment after decomposition. In various formulations of vegetable oil inks, soybean oil ink is a truly applicable environmentally friendly ink. And its rich production, cheap (especially in the United States), the performance of safe, reliable, good printing and meet the printing ink standards, excellent environmental protection.

At present, the popularization and promotion of soybean oil ink has been rapid and has been widely applied in Europe, Japan, South Korea and other countries and regions. At present, many print products with higher requirements for environmental protection also tend to be printed using soybean oil inks, such as toys, foods, cosmetic packaging, etc., to reduce the impact of odors on packaging.

At present, about 1/3 of the 10,000 kinds of newspapers in the United States are using soy oil ink; among more than 1,500 kinds of periodicals, more than 90:6 are in use. In 991, Japan began selling high-safety, aromatic-free solvents containing less than 0.5% carcinogenic aromatics. The emergence of aromatic oil-free solvents such as soybean oil makes the printing ink industry more environmentally friendly. Osaka Osaka Printing Ink Co., Ltd. has recently introduced a new environmentally-friendly ink “Opis100”, which is a sheet-fed offset printing ink with soybean oil-based 10% vegetable oil-based ink, meeting environmental requirements. It is understood that, at present, the use of soybean oil ink in Japan and the United States is very high, 100% of Japan's offset ink using soybean oil green ink, the United States 177% of the offset ink is soybean oil ink, and our current usage is in Less than 1%.

2. Soybean oil ink standards

This standard was developed by the American Soybean Association for the popularization of soybean oil. Table 1 lists the inks approved by the standard for soybean oil usage.

Recently, soybean oil inks have become popular in the industry due to the limitation of VOC emission standards. In the United States, vegetable oil-based inks are gradually replacing the use of cold-set rotary offset color inks for newspapers, books, and mineral oil-based printing, and the most commonly used is soybean oil ink.
